Choose any of the following tasks which will earn you one KMS Bacc Knowledge point.

8.1 Geography Tourism in Wales

Prepare a tourist leaflet to encourage people to visit a tourist resort in Wales.

Your leaflet could include the following:

·      A map of the area / resort

·      The human attractions in the area e.g., Theme parks

·      Physical attractions of the area e.g., Beaches 

Make it as colourful as possible, it could be presented as a poster.

8.1 Geography Welsh Weather

Prepare and record (video) of yourself presenting a weather forecast for Wales.

You will need to include:

·      The types of weather expected.

·      The effect this weather will have on people. Do they need to prepare? E.g., Pack suncream or board up windows.

·      Refer to areas in Wales such as North, South and name some towns.

Make it as interesting as possible to make viewers watch until the end.

8.1 RE Religious Holidays

Create a decorated A4 sheet which explains a religious holiday that your family celebrates. Describe the important features of the holiday such as how you celebrate it, if you eat any special food, etc. Explain why it is important to your family.

8.1 History Shipbuilders

Create a model of the Titanic, using materials of your choice (you can be as creative as you wish here - it may be papier mache, cake, recycled materials, clay - the choice is endless)!  Your model must include various features such as the exhaust steam. 

8.1 Museum Vlog

Create a video or blog, tracking your experiences of a visit to a museum. You could visit National Waterfront Museum, Swansea, National Museum of Wales in Cardiff or St Ffagans or any other museum of your choice. Your vlog should include details of the types of exhibits, interesting facts about your favourite department/area and relevant details about one particular artefact and why you find it so fascinating.

8.2 Geography of Asia

This research task is about understanding the human and physical geography of an Asian country of your choice. Your assessment needs to include the following.

·      Human geography of your chosen country (regions, population, urban / rural contrasts).

·      Physical geography of your chosen country (area, landscapes such as mountains rivers, weather).

·      How and why the geography of your chosen country is different to Wales.

The finished task should be well designed and include maps, photos, diagrams, text and references to your research. It could be presented as a poster.

8.2 RS Media Representation of Islam

Find three different mentions of the Islamic faith in the media. This could be TV shows, books, magazines, newspapers or podcasts. Discuss whether the representation is positive or negative and why this might be. You are looking for whether the representation is biassed or objective and thinking about what the effects of this could be.

8.2 History A Timeline of Ships

Research how ships have changed over time (you will need to include at least 3 examples).  You need to place the ships into chronological order - to be created on a timeline.  You then need to identify the following within your research: who built the ships, what materials were used and how long it took to build the ships.  You then need to compare all the ships (in terms of the strengths and weaknesses) and decide which is the best and provide reasons to support your judgement.

8.3 RS Elements of Islam

Choose an element of the Islamic faith such as- Belief in one God, Prophethood, prayer, fasting or charity. Then look at your chosen element in another religion such as Christianity. You should then write up your findings. Start by explaining the importance of the element in Islam before highlighting the similarities and differences with the other religion.
