Choose any of the following tasks which will earn you one KMS Bacc Knowledge point.

8.1 Music Jazz Legends

Create a fact file about a two Jazz Legends who were band leaders. You should include information about the music that they performed, the genre of their music and any specific features that they used. Don’t forget to use musical elements to describe the music. 

8.1 Art Is All Around Us

Create an artists’ fact file looking at two artists whose work revolves around Natural Forms (Landscapes, Flowers, Plants). You should include information about the life of that artist, describe their work using the formal elements of art (colour, mood, texture, pattern etc) and include some images.

8.2 Music Remix

Research 3 original songs that have been “covered” by a different artist. Create a listening test that shows the differences between each original and its cover version. You should create 20 questions in total focusing on the musical elements and include the answers. 

8.2  Art Is all Around Us

Research two different movements of Art that relate to Natural Form (e.g., Impressionism & Land Art). Present a poster summarising the key features of these movements and providing visual examples of their style of work. Write a kahoot quiz (10 questions minimum) based on your research. 

8.2  Drama Morality Plays

The main objective of Morality Plays had been to teach people the way that the church wanted them to behave. They knew that people would sin. (Do wrong unto themselves or others)  The wanted people to confess (admit) their sin to their priest and ask God for redemption. (Forgiveness)   The church said that there were 7 Deadly Sins. (Look at the laminates)  If people committed one of these sins, and did not seek confession, they would go to hell.

The sins are: Pride, Anger, Lust, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, and Envy.

 In Morality Plays all Seven Deadly (deadly as they risk you going to hell) Sins were personified into characters. These characters were to tempt the character Everyman to sin, if he did, the play would show the audience exactly what would happen to Everyman.

For your 2 points task, give a description of the 7 sins, you can use pictures to help support you with your research and think of seven famous characters that you think suit each sin. E.g. Sloth – Kevin Patterson (Kevin the teenager), Anger – Angry birds and add these images to your research.

8.3 Music of Black Origins

Research the impact of the slave trade on modern popular musical genres such as RnB, Hip hop, Rap. You should consider the social issues surrounding the lives of Black Americans in driving this movement of Black inspired music. You may also want to discuss the impact on people trafficking on such a large scale. Remember to discuss the African elements and features that underpin music of Black origin.
