Key Stage 3

KS3 VISION

In Key Stage Three English (KS3), our vision is to develop pupils who articulate their thoughts and opinions from reading a rich array of literature. Through encouraging children to explore a range of texts, both fiction and non-fiction, we hope to foster a love of reading and enable them to secure an understanding of history, culture and current affairs. Discovering new characters and plots, pupils can shape their own writing to be imaginative, engaging and innovative.

Our aim is to get the basic right at KS3 to ensure that progress does not become stagnant and will set the foundation to allow a seamless transition into Key Stage Four (KS4). All pupils in KS3 will study a broad spectrum of texts designed to strengthen and embed key English skills. These skills are developed and fine-tuned through the extended writing pieces intended to strengthen written accuracy and allow creative and analytical expression and in turn, allow our pupils to grow into independent learners who are more confident inside the English classroom.
