On this page pupils and parents will find a detailed outline of the current work being provided by the English team to be completed from home. We recommend that pupils complete the work as a 'hard copy' and keep these together to add to their English work at school. Alternatively, if pupils complete this work on a computer we strongly recommend creating an 'English' folder where completed work can be kept together.
Pupils are (at this stage) not expected to be submitting work. Any responses to this page via email will not be seen.Year 10 - Term 3b
Hello Year 10!
You are going to be working on Power and Conflict poetry this half term. The Power and Conflict poems are from the GCSE examination that you will sit next year. There are 15 poems in total.
The unit of work lasts for 8 weeks so you will study poetry for all five weeks of this half term and then continue for three weeks after half term.
This is to ensure you cover all 15 poems by the end of the year.
Please remember that these poems will be in your GCSE examinations next year and we will not be covering them again in class until just before the real exam so it is so important that you complete all of the lessons.
All of the lessons and voice-recorded lessons have been uploaded below.
Either Ms Issitt or Miss Lewis have set the SAM Learning tasks for you. You can access SAM Learning via the VLE. Your class teacher will be monitoring the completion of these tasks.
If you have a question about the work, please send your teacher an email via the VLE.

Here you can find a range of different model answers on various poems from the anthology. There are answers for different bands of the mark scheme so you can pick which are the most relevant for you. These may help you to understand how you will be expected to compare poetry. Video links and further example answers have been provided in some of the PowerPoint lessons.
Extension and challenge tasks and questions can be found in the KS4 revision folder titled 'Poetry Anthology'. Here you can access help videos, individual lessons, extra annotations and information, and practice questions.
You should also use this time to create revision resources, respond to past papers and consider patterns and changes across texts. This is a great time to make sure your revision notes are detailed for all the texts that we have studied.
Check out this page for revision ideas for A Christmas Carol, Language Paper 1, Macbeth, Poetry Anthology.
Your revision notes can be in the form of:
Mindmaps
Essay Plans
Key Quotations and how they relate to characters or themes
Timelines of key events and character progression
Revision cards
