So, you have spent time designing your Virtual Room and curating content resources for students to dive into during their exploration...now what? Why not use this is as an opportunity to gain feedback from your students? Feedback from students can look differently based on your intended outcome, but some options are:
Including questions on your Guided Exploration asking students to share a resource that they found that would be a good addition to your room. This supports UDL and allows students to provide personal contributions of known resources to community learners around a topic to promote academic, behavioral and social growth in students.
Gather feedback from your students to see what they liked the most about your room, what was most useful, or different things they might be interested in seeing in the future. (This builds cultural responsiveness to your classroom community as well as the overall Instructional Design!) This could be completed digitally, on paper, or even just done verbally!
Engaging in conversation with students asking what they thought of the design, content, and expectations of your room.
Encouraging students to use your Virtual Room as a starting point and use that to create their own Virtual Room around the same (or upcoming!) content.
Explore the Virtual Room below and think about how you might use a room like this type of room with your students. What kind of feedback was requested in this room (Hint: Take a look at the last question on the Scavenger Hunt!). What other kind of feedback could you gather in a Virtual Room?
Starting today, you will have the opportunity to take what you learned and create your own Virtual Room. Each day your work will build upon the previous day and at the end of the course, you will have a Virtual Room you can use with your students.
💅 Finish up adding touches to your room. Tomorrow is showcase day, so get ready to share your room with others!
1️⃣ Consider incorporating at least one feedback opportunity in your room or as part of the learning reflection process.
