Bacich follows the curriculum as outlined in the California Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
In the fall, students explore what plants and animals need and their interdependent relationships in the ecosystem. Students visit WildCare to deepen their understanding of how the environment and people effect local wildlife.
In winter, we continue to explore animals in winter and learn about hibernating, migrating and adapting. Throughout the year, we study our local weather and learn to describe weather patterns over time in each of our classrooms.
As spring approaches, we focus on physics: forces and interactions. Through hands on exploration with various materials, students deepen their understanding of basic physics. Students enjoy hands-on discovery, investigations, and hypothesizing.
We are a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) school! Throughout the year students explore content through the integration of multiple subjects.
