BPES Art Room

About Me:

My Name is Natalie Hodges and this is my 13th year teaching art at BPES and my 14th year in education. I am married with two kids- Kate is 11 and Madeleine is a junior in college. In addition to teaching art, a few of my hobbies include reading, painting, doing puzzles, and photography. 

About our Class:

In the art room at BPES, students learn confidence in themselves, tolerance of others, team work, problem solving skills, and creative thinking. Students learn the value of craftsmanship and quality, as well as the importance of perseverance and working through a challenge toward completion. Students learn to see the big picture of a problem, and they also learn the importance of all the moving parts in finding a solution. These are not just art skills, these are 21st century skills they will use throughout their lives. The best part is that we get to learn all of this by creating beautiful pieces of art and learning about art history.  Every day we will be drawing, cutting, gluing, painting, sculpting, and collaging. Art Club: 

Art Club is offered for 4th grade students on Wednesdays after school. Enrollment forms will go home before art club begins (late October early November-ish). Due to limited space, enrollment is limited to 20 students. Students must maintain good behavior and skills grades in order to be considered for the club. If you would like more information about Art Club, please contact me. 

Donations/Collections: 

I am ALWAYS collecting newspaper, yarn, buttons, shoebox lids, and found objects that can be glued and painted. Please email me if you have specific household objects in mind that you would like to donate. I will definitely let you know if we can use them at that time! Thank you!
