Just a recap of our important definitions:
- Trim- remove time from the beginning and/or end of a video file to make it shorter in time. Still results in a continuous video that is not edited in the middle.
- Compress- Use a digital tool to shrink the size of the video file; does not affect the length of the video in time.
- Convert- Use a digital tool to change the format of the video so that it can be viewed on a particular device or devices. The preferred format is .mp4 as it can be viewed on a variety of devices. Formats accepted by edTPA include .flv, .asf, .qt, .mov, .mpg, .mpeg, .avi, .mp4, and .m4v. Conversion does not directly change the file size or the length.
Note: With many applications, Compression and Conversion happen simultaneously.
