Military

The military can offer a challenging and rewarding career option for students wanting to serve their country. There are multiple ways to pursue a Military career.

Academies

A highly competitive educational institution which prepares candidates for service in the officer corps of the army, the navy, air force or coast guard, which normally provides education in a service environment. Academies cover all educational and living expense in exchange for 5 years military service as an officer after graduation. Selection into the Academies often requires a congressional nomination, athletic ability, and high academic achievement.

Military Academies are available for the:

Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC)

A college-based program for training commissioned officers of the United States armed forces. The ROTC does offer a scholarship that helps with educational expenses. Check university ROTC websites for details. Each military branch will have their own ROTC scholarship page (Navy, Army, Air Force)

Enlisting

Enlisting in active duty of the military (Navy, Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard, or Marines) or in the reserves requires a commitment for 4-5 years. Ask your counselor to speak to a representative of the military.
