Welcome! National School Counseling Week is celebrated each year during the first full week of February. This special week highlights the important role school counselors play in supporting students academically, socially, emotionally, and as they plan for their futures.
The 2026 theme, “School Counselors Amplify Student Success,” reflects how school counselors help strengthen student confidence, amplify student voices, and support growth at every stage of development—from kindergarten through graduation.
Throughout this week, families are invited to watch a short daily video sharing how our school counseling program supports all students. Each video highlights a different aspect of student success and how school counselors partner with students, families, and staff to help every child thrive.
School counselors support the whole child. Our work includes:
Helping students feel safe, supported, and included
Teaching social-emotional skills like problem-solving, self-regulation, and empathy
Supporting academic growth and goal-setting
Helping students navigate friendships and challenges
Guiding students in career awareness and future planning
Every student deserves access to support, encouragement, and opportunities to succeed.
Theme: School Counselors Amplify Student Success
Today we kick off National School Counseling Week, celebrated the first full week of February. This year’s theme, School Counselors Amplify Student Success, highlights how school counselors support students academically, socially, emotionally, and as they plan for the future.
In today’s video, I share what it means to “amplify” student success and how my role is to support every child—at every age—as they grow, learn, and build confidence.
Theme: Every Student’s Success Matters
Student success looks different for every child. In today’s video, I explain how school counselors support student growth both directly and behind the scenes by working closely with teachers, administrators, and families.
Whether students need help with learning, friendships, emotions, or goal-setting, school counselors help ensure students have the tools and support they need to succeed.
Theme: Safe, Inclusive, and Supportive Schools
A positive school environment is essential for student success. Today’s video focuses on how school counselors help create a school where students feel safe, included, and valued.
Through social-emotional learning, relationship building, and emotional support, counselors help students feel confident and ready to learn—because students do their best when they feel supported.
Theme: Safe, Inclusive, and Supportive Schools
Student success is amplified when schools and families work together. In today’s video, I highlight how school counselors collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support students academically and emotionally.
Strong communication and teamwork help ensure students receive consistent support at school and at home.
Theme: Encouragement Beyond the Classroom
As we wrap up National School Counseling Week, today’s message highlights how small moments, encouragement, and positive choices add up over time. Families, school staff, and trusted adults each play an important role in helping students grow confidence, character, and resilience—skills that support them both in school and beyond.
