September 8-12-- Trimming the rim, smoothing for thinness, adding a foot or feet- handles? Lugs? Decorations? We learned 5. Are you meeting or exceeding the standards for the pinch pot? (these standards are located on your syllabus)
September 15-19 Mid- Quarter- for ceramics, they are progress grades. B= you met the standards- you have your pinch pot in greenware and you are working on Coil Mug- C= You do not have your pinch pot in greenware.
First Studio Night Wednesday, September 17th.
September 22-28 All Students are working on Coil Mug Project #2 -We will pause one work day and go over our glazing steps and you learned --2 new terms: Dryfooting and Crawling. Glaze Notes- Tuesday, Sept 23rd, If you have your mug in greenware you can glaze your pinch pot. Studio night 9.24
September 29 -October 3rd- If you haven't already--- Coil Mug in greenware by September 29th
October 6-9-- Parent/Teacher conference-steps for project #3--coil bowl are posted. Remember if your coil mug is not in greenware- make that a priority. Once your coil mug is in greenware you can glaze your pinch pots. The kilns are up and running.
End of 1st Quarter- October 9th
October 15 to 17-- Short week- Students should be working on Project #3 Coil Bowl. Step by step instructions are on the white board. Studio Night- Thursday, Oct 16th 3:15 to 4:15.
October 20- 24-- Coil Bowl - Step-by-step directions that are on the whiteboard in the classroom are also in your Google Classroom stream. A few are onto Concave/ Convex
October 27 -31 -- Coil Bowl should be in greenware by October 28th- but as always the earlier the better! Many have started this project during Q1 Studio Night - Wednesday, March 19th.
November 3-7 Students are working on Concave/Convex, constructing with coils, paddling, smoothing, shaping and drying. Studio Night, if you are behind come on in and join us!! Mid-Quarter grades include progress on the Concave/Convex project, if they have the coil bowl glazed that was factored in as well.
November 10-14- A few are working on their slab lidded box.
November 17-21- Finishing up the Concave/Convex this week-- some are working on the slab lidded box. Studio Night Wed. Nov 19th
December 1-5- Studio night, Wednesday- December 3rd- working on Slab Lidded Box- learning how to use the slab roller
December 8-12 -- Last day for clay is December 11 th. Glazing Studio Night- Tuesday December 9th
December 15-19 Glazing frenzy! Studio Night- Monday, December 15th. If you have gaps in your notes make sure you get the information! Review for test via blooklet- December 16th and the test is on December 17th. VERY last day to glaze is Thursday December 18th but you will need to be present on the 19th to conference.
