The Induction & Mentoring Program in West Hawaii strives to provide the highest level of instructional mentoring to our newest teachers entering the profession. By using New Teacher Center’s (NTC) research-based approach to instructional mentoring, our mentors learn the skills needed to impact beginning teacher efficacy and potentially influence teacher retention.
Students are always at the center of what we do and by applying these specialized approaches to match beginning teacher needs, students can gain up to 5 months of additional learning as compared to traditional new teacher support. This process begins with an administrator’s selective nominations of potential mentors who are interested in teacher leadership, invested in student achievement and demonstrate high-level instructional skills and mindsets necessary to achieve this.
