When can I start taking dual credit class(es)?
You must be enrolled at Kalani High School in order to apply for all dual credit programs. For Manoa Academy the earliest you can enroll is the summer after sophomore year.
What is the eligibility requirements for dual credit program?
For Early College and Running Start, students must take the EdReady placement test and place into: ENG 100 and MATH 82.

ACT: Math 22/ Eng 18

In order to participate in Early College and Manoa Academy you must be a "blended learner" on Kalani's campus.
If you are a 100% "Always Virtual" learner student you are allowed to participate in Running Start.
Do I need to take both English and Math EdReady placement test?
Yes. All students who are interested in Dual Credit with KCC must take the English and Math EdReady placement test. You must place into ENG 100 and MATH 82 to qualify for dual credit class(es) with KCC.
If I qualify to take dual credit class(es) in the Early College or Running Start paths, does that mean I am a KCC student?
Yes. You will receive a UH system ID number, along with access to KCC services on campus.
If I qualify for Manoa Academy, does that mean I can attend UH Manoa after I graduate high school?
The Academy distinguishes itself from other early college programs by offering participants provisional admission to UHM. Once you pass a Manoa Academy course with a "C" or better grade you can enroll at UH Manoa upon high school graduation without reapplying to UH Manoa for your "Freshman" year.
Will my dual credit(s) transfer to mainland colleges?
Each college is different. Before you enroll for dual credit course, it is highly recommended that you visit the website of that specific college your interested in attending to confirm that dual credit(s) will transfer.
All dual credits will transfer to any UH system schools (i.e. Kapi'olani CC, Honolulu CC, Leeward CC, Windward CC, UH Manoa, UH Hilo).
Does KCC provide IDEA or 504 services?
Students must contact the Disability Support Services Office (DSSO) for further clarification.
How will my grades affect my GPA?
Your college GPA will start with the course you take at the campus you are enrolled in. For example, if you take a KCC course, you are starting your KCC GPA. While credits may transfer over to UH Manoa, your letter grade will not.
If your GPA results in academic probation, it may affect your financial aid status for that campus
What will happen if I withdraw from the course?
The "W" status will be reflected on the transcript of the campus you enrolled in (KCC, UH, etc.)
If you want to enroll in another early college or Manoa Academy course in the future, you will be charged $100 fee (non-refundable)
What is the recommendation for future class registration if I take dual credit math courses?
It is HIGHLY recommended that you continue to take math courses through dual credit once you complete any math course through this program (for example, you would need to complete Kalani's pre-calculus course if you want to take Kalani's AP calculus)
If I want to apply to a 4 year, direct entry nursing program should I take a lot of dual credit courses?
It is highly not recommended you do that. When you enter the respective program you will not be allowed to jump ahead in that program.
If I earn a lot of college credits through dual credit classes does that mean I will finish my four-year college program quicker?
Probably not, it depends on the major. However, you will be able to lessen your semester loads.
