JTM 2019 girls soccer

The JT Moore Lady Matadors Soccer Team had an amazing 2019 Fall season! The Lady Matadors won the City Championship 1-0 versus Meigs Middle School in a hard-fought match played at Father Ryan High School, under the lights, and on a bone chilling evening. The victory capped off a 14-0 (100%) regular season run that saw the Lady Matadors outscore their opponents by an impressive 74 goals (97%) to 2 goals (3%)! The defense, led by 6th grade center back Emery Lewis, played it very tight with 12 shut-outs in 14 matches (86%)! The Captain and MVP of the squad was 8th grade starting goalie, Jenny Lott. Jenny was a charismatic leader and a top notch goal tender who always led her team by example! The high scorer on offense was 8th grade center forward Sophie Stein with 21 goals, all highlighted by her quick feet and powerful shots. Sophie was closely followed in the scoring column by 7th grade right forward Ellis McDermott, the offensive heir apparent, who had 14 goals on the season. All 26 players on the Roster, and the 3 Managers, played a huge part in the team’s overall success!

CITY CHAMPS!

The newest City Championship for the Lady Matadors gives the squad the Three-Peat for 2017, 2018, and 2019! Grace Dyer, Emerson Knoll, Simone Longenecker, Jenny Lott, Maguire Maestas, Rebecca Sanchez, Sophie Stein, and Maddie Vaughn played all three years for the Lady Matadors! These players came away with a 41-1 (98%) record, outscored their opponents 228 goals (93%) to 18 goals (7%), and had 29 out of 42 shut-outs (69%) in 3 seasons! Saqbe Alvarez (1 season), Gigi Bowman (2 seasons), Kate Brawner (2 seasons), Caroline Kirkby (1 season), and Emma Russell (2 seasons) were all a major part of the success of the Lady Matadors! Over the last 2 seasons this collective group of 8th graders went 28-0 (100%), outscored their opponents 156 goals (97%) to 5 goals (3%), and had 23 out of 28 shut-outs (82%)!

We are saddened to see this outstanding group of soccer players move on to High School but the Lady Matadors are already re-loading! Next season the Lady Matadors will be led by Naomi Bryant (8th), Lucy Hunt (8th), Brooke Johnson (8th), Emery Lewis (8th), Gigi Lewis (6th), Jamiya Mason (8th), Reese Taylor (8th), and many other new faces! We are also deeply saddened that the Lady Matadors missed this Fall soccer season but we hope that you will come out and support us in the Fall of 2021 as we seek the Four-Peat!
