コミュニケーションの手段が制限されているオンラインでも新しい出会いが生まれるように、様々な工夫をしました。参加者の皆さんには事前にこちらをご覧になって趣旨をご理解いただければ幸いです。
We have prepared a series of new trials to promote interactions between participants even on-line, where communication tools are limited. We hope that all participants will take a look at this page in advance and see what is new.

所属を見てもその人が何をしているのかはわかりません。今回の年会に興味が近い人がいるのかどうかも所属は語ってくれません。今回は全参加者に登録時にアンケートを実施し、発生生物学関連のキーワードにスコアを付けていただきます。スコアに基づいて階層的クラスタリングを行えば、分野が近い参加者が一目瞭然です。
One cannot know someone's expertise from his/her affiliations. The affiliation also doesn't tell us if there are people who are close to our interest in this annual meeting. This time, all participants will be asked to complete a questionnaire upon registration to score keywords related to developmental biology. Hierarchical clustering based on the scores will tell you who are close to each other in the fields.
また、発表がない人も含め、全参加者にグラフィカルアブストラクトを１枚送っていただきます。グラフィカルアブストラクト付きの参加者名簿は話をしたい人を見つける際にきっと役に立ってくれるでしょう。
We will also ask all participants, including those who will not be presenting, to send us one copy of their graphical abstracts. The list of participants with graphical abstracts will help you to find someone you might want to talk to.

みなさま学会参加の前に一通りアブストラクトに目を通すことも多いかと思いますが、せっかく目を通していただくのであればそれを口頭発表の審査に使わせていただこうという試みです。プログラム委員と発表者の双方が参加するNHK紅白方式です。
I am sure that many of you read through the abstract before attending the conference, and if so, why not use your impression for judging the oral presentations. This is the NHK Kohaku style, in which both program committee members and presenters participate for the judgement.

口頭発表のあとの休憩時間。コーヒーを取りに行く発表者を追いかけて話をしにいった経験をお持ちの方は多いかと思います。今回は、口頭発表のあとにたっぷり30分の休憩時間を取り、口頭発表を終えた演者はSpatial Chatの方に待機していただきます。いつもの学会のあの雰囲気を再現できるでしょうか。
I'm sure many of you have had an experience to look for a presenter of previous session for a discussion, who is on the way to have a coffe. We will have a 30-minute break after the oral presentations, and you can find the presenters at Spatial Chat. We hope we will be able to recreate the usual atmosphere of the conference?

ポスターぶらり見て歩き。これができないのがオンライン学会のつらさ。このTwitterには大いに共感しました。
少しでもこの欠点を補うべく、いくつかの学会で取り入れられつつあるSpatial Chatによるポスターセッションを取り入れます。こちらの日本植物学会での様子や日本サンゴ学会の案内を読んでいただけると、イメージが湧いてくるのではないかと思います。
