Career and Technical Student Organizations are an integral component of a high-quality CTE program, allowing students to access transformative opportunities.
Support for Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) activities is allowed when CTSOs are duly established and chartered entities that meet all the following criteria:
Are considered an integral part of instruction in CTE and, as such, contribute to the attainment of specified curriculum competencies within the recognized program areas of secondary CTE;
Are supervised by qualified and licensed CTE personnel;
Are affiliated with appropriate state and/or national organizational structures;
Are organized and conducted in accordance with guidelines and policies of the State Board of Education (CTED-002) as specified by Career and Technical Education; and
Serve as a teaching strategy that contributes significantly to the motivation and total development of students through activities that develop leadership abilities, citizenship skills, and social competencies leading to a wholesome attitude about living and working.
Curriculum and Training Materials may be purchased as part of a adviser's CTE Supply Allotment. Chapter supplies include CTSO handbooks, program/curriculum materials, competitive event supplies, and banners.
CTE funds may not be used to purchase any item that will become the personal property of the individual, this includes CTSO-branded merchandise, prizes, or give-aways.
CTE may fund Adviser Training and Professional Development opportunities, especially when offered in-state. Submit a CTE Prior Approval Form for consideration.
Official blazers/jackets may be requested via the CTE Request Form.
The adviser(s) must include in the rationale of the CTE PO Requisition that, "CTSO blazers/jackets will remain the property of the CTE program. Advisers will maintaining an inventory, check-in/out procedures, and policies developed in collaboration with the school bookkeeper for lost/stolen/damaged blazers."
CTE will not pay for dry cleaning or repair of blazers/jackets.
Adviser Dues for CTE teachers licensed in the aligned CTSO. CTE is not funding affiliate student memberships.
For Regional Events CTE may fund employee registration fees, activity bus mileage or rental vehicle, and substitutes.
For the State Annual Conference & Competitions CTE may fund participant registration fees, employee lodging and subsistence (meals), substitutes, and transportation.
For the National Annual Conference & Competitive Events
CTE may fund staff travel expenses, substitutes, meals, and transportation based on the chaperone ratio below.
CTE-Sponsored Members: CTE only provides funding for student-competitors who were recognized in their event, qualifying them for the national level competition. CTE may also provide funding support for elected, state officers. CTE-Sponsored Members may be eligible for the following national conference expenses:

CTE will make transportation arrangements. Complete the CTSO Travel Form.
CTE cannot fund social events or state packages that include "gifts" (e.g. trading pins, t-shirts). Those will need to be funded through chapter funds and/or charged to participants.
NOTE: All funding is contingent upon the availability of CTE funds, review and approval by CTE central services, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws and policies.
The ratios below are for CTE-sponsored members (See above). If taking additional students requires additional chaperones, those chaperone expenses must be funded through other means. CTE cannot fund or reimburse the travel-related expenses incurred by non-JCPS employees.
1:15 for same-day events (example: 16 CTE-sponsored members attending, CTE will fund 2 adults)
1:10 for in-state, overnight events (example: 11 CTE-sponsored members attending, CTE will fund 2 adults)
1:5 for out-of-state events (example: 6 CTE-sponsored members, CTE will fund 2 adults)
