Once students complete the diagnostic portion, they will be given a certain number of minutes to complete each section a week. For example, Student A may need to complete 35 minutes of Word Study, 25 minutes of Grammar, and 45 minutes of Reading Comprehension a week. This is to ensure they are making gains toward reaching grade level proficiency by the end of the year. Minutes not completed at school will need to be completed at home.

Students may use IXL in conjunction with Lexia to reach English/Language Arts standards as part of their learning continuum. Students wanting to use IXL as a replacement for reading, writing, or language skill must receive a SmartScore of 100.

Similar to Newsela, the website offers stories, informational reading, poetry, and a plethora of other fiction and nonfiction for students to learn about a particular subject. CommonLit offers ACT style questions to help students prepare for higher level thinking and high stakes exams.

Newsela offers students an opportunity to learn about the world around them. Many of their articles are focused on current events, but there are also articles based on literature. This source allows educators and students to view articles at their reading ability or Lexile level, making it easier to comprehend content.
