Congratulations to Sally Majoria for placing 1st in the Louisiana State Science and Engineering Fair.
Congratulations to Jaymon Williams for placing 3rd in the Louisiana State Science and Engineering Fair.
Our John Curtis Patriot Science Fair participants performed extremely well at the Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair. The students pictured to the right and left won numerous awards. In the Junior Division, which is for students in grades 7th-8th, Hannah Bilison placed first in "Earth and Environmental Science." Sally Majora placed first in "Mathematics and Systems Software." Melanie Ferrara placed fourth in "Earth and Environmental Science." Sophia Foret placed 4th in “Embedded Systems and Robotics.” Zoe Guidroz placed 4th in "Energy: Sustainable Materials and Design”. These projects were so outstanding they also were awarded Special Awards, which range from scholarships to grant money for further research. Melanie Ferrara received an award from the “National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)". Hannah Bilison received two awards from the "Thermo Fisher Innovator's Challenge (JIC) and the "US Metric Association". Sally Majoria also received an award from the (JIC).
In the Senior Division, for grades 9-12, Johnny Signorelli and Jaymon Williams both placed. Signorelli placed third in "Embedded Systems, Robotics and Intelligent Machines". Jaymon Williams placed first in “Biochemistry Cellular and Molecular Biology”.
Students are given the opportunity to pick a project and perform the rigorous process which involves writing a hypothesis and conducting research, and performing trials of an experiment or engineering a unique item. The first round of Science Fair is against fellow students. Once the top projects are chosen in each category, students advance to compete at the Regional Science Fair at Tulane. After Regionals, the winning students then advance to compete at the State Science Fair which is held at LSU.
