As the industrial structure continues to change along with the progress of internationalization, the needs for human resources are also changing these times. In an ever-changing society, human resources are required to have flexible wisdom and the ability to think outside the box, based on a broad education. We need to have the ability to think calmly and flexibly, which enables us to look at complex, intertwined phenomena comprehensively, to accurately grasp the core of the problem, and to find a solution by flexibly using the knowledge we have accumulated. What Senzoku is trying to nurture is just such a flexible and creative intellect, which we believe is the key to opening up further possibilities for women.
This kind of revitalized intellectual power is especially necessary for students to enter and study at top universities in Europe and the U.S. In the analysis of the factors that lead to success at difficult-to-enter universities such as the University of Tokyo, it has been confirmed as a skill that is necessary to survive in other countries.
To briefly explain the structure of our idea of "knowledge," it can be depicted as a three-tiered pyramid.
The first layer is the "quality and quantity of knowledge." What determines the size and strength of the pyramid is by how wide a range of education and information you have acquired and how much you have accumulated based on your deep understanding.
On top of that foundation, the second layer of "chain and integration of knowledge" will be constructed. This represents the power of thinking, which connects the acquired knowledge and education according to the purpose.
The third and final layer is the "creation of knowledge". It represents the ability to create new values through acquired knowledge, education and the ability to think. In other words, we cultivate academic skills in order to create this "intellectual power."
This kind of intellectual power is cultivated through a wide range of studies that are not bound by the framework of a field. At the same time, it is matured by training to demonstrate and utilize the knowledge. At Senzoku, as the levels of students' abilities increase, we are attempting to simultaneously promote the "acquisition" and "application" of knowledge, which has been done in stages until now.
Specifically, the first is to further promote the six-year compulsory system of five subjects for a broad education and introduce a compulsory system of mathematics until the third year of high school. The second is to turn each subject class into an opportunity for contemplation, discussion and comments beyond the boundaries of the subjects.
In addition, we would like to further universalize the extra-curricular activities such as Model United Nations and the Next Generation Leader Training School, which we currently call "activities to communicate with people outside school," so that they can be experienced by all students, in order to develop flexible and deep "intellectual power" that can naturally lead to the "creation of knowledge."
