The most important mission for higher education is the formation of our students’ future. Senzoku Gakuen is aiming to nurture students who have decision-making skills, a strong sense of value, and a strong will. Our eventual goal is to turn our students into people with these skills who can work to achieve the ideals of the world. Our faculty aim to think together about the future of our students even after they leave us, and the characteristics below are what we believe is crucial for the students to possess in order to “achieve happiness in their future.
Not only learning but also acquiring knowledge is a lifelong process that continues even higher education. A person who can keep shining is someone who can keep working hard for the growth of self. The teachers at Senzoku plan out our lessons so that the students are able to realize that learning, polishing their talents, and developing as a person are something that eventually returns to them in their future. Our educational programs have developed over the years and it will continue to grow in the future.
The students’ future lies not merely in Japan but around the world abroad. Whether they choose to or not, going abroad and getting connections with the world outside of Japan is something that many students should be ready for. In that world, students are required to have high communication skills as well as the flexibility to accept different cultures. The English program at Senzoku is built in order to equip the students with very authentic and practical English skills that goes beyond getting ready for college entrance exams. There are many returnee students as well, enabling everyone to feel familiar with diverse cultures.
The school got its name from the Gospel of Saint John (section 13) in the New Testament that reads, “Then he (Christ) began to wash the disciples’ feet”. “Sen” means to wash and “zoku” means feet. The bible teaches us about the pursuit of happiness that goes beyond economic prosperity. Grieving at times of friends’ sadness and sharing happiness with others comes a great trembling of emotion. We hope to root these hearts to the core of our students through the many that they experience in the six years that they are with us.
