Seneca FFA

A Letter from a former President: Sara Fouts

Seneca High School’s FFA Chapter and AG program is not only high ranking in our region but in the state of Kentucky as well. We aim for excellence - becoming a Nationally recognized Gold Star chapter is our #1 goal. Our FFA Chapter hosts events for everyone including those relating to growing leaders (leadership, healthy lifestyles, scholarships, personal growth, and career success), building communities (environmental, human resources, citizenship, stakeholder engagement, and economic development), and last but not least, strengthening agriculture (support group, chapter recruitment, safety, agricultural advocacy, and agricultural literacy). To better understand what events we have held and will be holding, think of any agricultural product, service, or industry and imagine not only learning about those topics but teaching, leading, adapting, or expanding on these topics. FFA is not just farming so think outside the box; examples include: petting zoos, nativity scenes, Nulu Bock Fest, Pegasus Parade, conventions, workshops, speech, parliamentary procedure, and so much more.

Within these events, non-members can see the family that we have built. At Seneca we have held FFA family (FFAmily) events in the past where all AG students and FFA members are able to meet, hang out, and participate in fun activities. Events like these have helped our members, especially new members (freshman, sophomores) find a home away from home as well as a group of people that will always be encouraging, dependable, and helpful. This past September, our officer team put together an event in which we called the Welcome Back to FFA Bash. For this event we set up many mini games such as a scavenger hunt, outdoor bowling, redneck golf, cornhole, and relay games. In addition, the Seneca FFA officer team went up against the Seneca High School AG Program Champions and Staff in a game of tug-of-war. Overall this event brought all types of AG and FFA members together and unified our chapter. With this being said, our officer team this year has reached out to several state as well as regional FFA officers to invite them to many of our upcoming events. Our FFAmily does not stop with just our chapter, but has expanded to higher levels of our organization.

Hope to see you as a Seneca FFA member and a part of our FFA family,

Sara
