Creative journeys through disciplined training!
Greetings parents and staff,
In building this program, I am reaching beyond just playing an instrument or singing. During the course of a cycle, students will learn and be tested on the following fundamentals:
Beat
Rhythm
Tempo
Dynamics
Note values
Making connections with other cultures
Composers and their countries
Students are graded on their MASTERY of what is taught during the course of the nine weeks with a mid-term assessment and an E.Q.A. (End of Quarter Assessment). When the material is heavy, intermediate grades are sent home with a study guide.
Overall, not only are students singing and/or playing during the class, they are also challenged to apply the knowledge of their grade-level lessons. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me.
Musically,
Mrs. Broome
M.P.A. General Music Teacher
Students are reminded daily of their expectations -
I am the conductor. They are the musicians / orchestra.
Whole class starts with three (3) points. Disruptions that haven't calmed down within a reasonable amount of time will cost them a class point.
Single student disruptions are on a Management Plan.
1st cut-off = warning
2nd cut-off = student-written explanation of their behavior, why they are doing it and how they are going to fix it.
3rd cut-off = "Blue Card" and phone call / text message to parent or guardian.
