Kindergartners have been learning art skills that are useful in the classroom and in art class. Using a paper that has small circles, they learned how to use Just a Dot not a Lot when squeezing out white glue. They practiced scissor skills and learned how to make a continuous cut and follow the lines when cutting.
This month we are continuing our study of the different types of lines. We made 3D line sculptures out of flat paper, and in October we will be starting out PAINTING UNIT- which is ALWAYS a great time!
They are doing a wonderful job!
Students learning to use JUST A DOT NOT A LOT of white glue.
Once a month in Kinder we travel to a different continent! Students learn where each continent is located on a map and the details about a country located there. This month we traveled to ASIA. While learning about Asia we learned about Chinese culture and the celebration of the Lunar New Year. This year is the year of the Dragon!
Students made these Chinese lanterns as a souvenir from their project. They were able to demonstrate their great scissor skills!
The kindergarten classes have been learning about the life and art of Jean Michel Basquiat. They learned collage skills by tearing newspaper and glueing it to the background. After studying the dinosaurs that Basquiat drew in his paintings they were inspired to draw thier own in black oil pastel! They painted the dinosaur with black, red and yellow paint to add accents.
I am so proud of them for learning a new skill and letting their creativity flow.
