It is the new year and our intermediate art program has EXPLODED with talent! For the first unit of study, fourth grade artists used hand mirrors to observe their own eyes. By making an honest effort to draw what they SEE while looking at their eyes, they drew that they observed using pencils.
The GIANT EYE drawing project was a successful challenge that built confidence in the artists ability and was a great step forward into our painting unit.
In art these past few weeks we have learned about radial symmetry. We traced a circle and cut it out. Then we used oil pastels to create a pattern and painted with watercolor to watch the water resist the oil pastel.
Students were very patient and focused on creating lines that would create an eye catching pattern.
