THIS WEEK'S ESSENTIALS

Chromebook Collection Reminder

Families,

Next week we will be collecting all Chromebooks for the summer. Please start having your child bring their school-issued Chromebook, charger and case to school every day from now until the end of the school year. We have a lot of students missing their chargers. If they want to bring in $10 cash to purchase a replacement, they should do that ASAP.

The following dates will be used for the Chromebook Collection.

If your student is participating in the Summer Backpack League a Chromebook will be provided for them at their location. Any student who is taking an e-school class will be able to take their Chromebook home for the summer if they need it. If you have any questions please reach out to Drew Paige. (andrew.paige@jefferson.kyschools.us).

2024-25 Required Athletic Forms: We are now using Final Forms for our required athletic paperwork. From now on, we will not need the athletic packets or physicals (you will upload only the "Medical Eligibility" page to the website using your phone). The rest of the forms will be filled out online by parents and athletes. If you already have a physical on file with us, we will upload it and update those sections. Many of you already have started using Final Forms. You will just need to login and fill out the new forms when they are released. When your page turns from red or yellow to green, you are complete. Final Forms will update about your athlete's sports physical expiration dates. Upcoming 6th grade parents, the required 6th grade physical is not the same as the sports physical. 6th grade athletes will need to get both.

Registration for Final Forms/Fall Sports will begin on Monday, June 10th. We will email all parents and students the link and instructions on that day.

Gym Ad Banners: Advertising Banners for the gym can now be purchased. Please see the attachment LINK for more information, and if you know of any businesses that would like to sponsor/advertise with us, please pass it along. We can have designers create the banner for you, or we can use your current design. You can request that all money for your banner go to support a specific team. For prices and more information, please email matthew.davis@jefferson.kyschools.us

Interested in Coaching? We currently have openings for assistant and/or head coach positions for middle school tennis, volleyball, cheer, track and potentially more. JCPS has several requirements that have to be met in order to begin coaching. Please email an athletic director if you are interested. We have to submit all requirements to JCPS before you can begin any type of tryout or practice.

Boys Volleyball has finished their season, after picking up a big win over Fern Creek.  They all worked really hard and improved tremendously throughout the season and we are excited for next year.

Track had a great showing at the Walden Meet on Monday.  Our top 10 finishers include Cameron Sharpe (4th in long jump and 8th in the 400), Muhammed Seck (10th in the 400), our boys relay of Ethen Wright, Elias Najjar, Nolton Alfred and Keiran Nuss finished 5th, Chabely Perez Talon (1st in 200, 2nd in 100 and 2nd in 400), Nina Devine (7th in 800 and 8th in 1600), Chloe Cotham (6th in 100 Hurdles), Raya Jones (5th in Shot Put), Lola Ford (4th in Discus, 9th in Shot Put), and Sara Rogers (10th in Long Jump).  Way to go Bears!

Tennis- started regional play.  Austin Vitato and Oliver Blount represented our boys really well.  Oliver won the first round match. Lia Mananandry and Nola Goodman both won in their first round singles matches. Nevia and Zoe Wall won their first round doubles match and lost to the probable state champions in round two. In the first round of the 7th region tournament, which is by far the most difficult in the state, Brown was 5-1. Thanks to everyone who played and helped for a great season.

Softball has had a lot of cancelations due to weather recently, but picked up a big win over Seneca on Monday night.  They will finish out their season tonight (5/15), at Central.  Great season Lady Bears!

Baseball is finishing out their season tonight (5/15), taking on WEB DuBois at Fern Creek.  A huge thank you to Grayson Provencher, our only senior, for his hard work and leadership throughout the year.

High School Counselor

I am so proud of the students as we approach the end of testing. They were committed to task and persevered through many days and a variety of tests. The last regularly scheduled AP exam is Friday, May 17. Late exams will continue the following week 5/22-5/24 and students will receive a notice via email on Monday 5/20 of their date, time, and location.

Students are being contacted directly if they have not completed their Individual Learning Plan (ILPs) for the year. This is an annual KDE requirement. Ask your student about what careers were suggested to them for a conversation starter!

Schedule requests for next year are finished. If a student would like to change their request, they can complete the Schedule Change Request Form in August. Please do not make any changes in IC. I will make schedules available as soon as they are set.
