PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Brown School Family,

I hope this message finds you well and excited for the new school year. The first day of school has been filled with joy, laughter, and eager faces, as our students embark on a journey of growth and discovery.

It warms our hearts to see your children engaged and enthusiastic about their classes and activities. Their smiles are a testament to the positive and nurturing environment we strive to create here at Brown. We are dedicated to ensuring that each student feels valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential.

As partners in your child's education, we are here to collaborate and communicate every step of the way. Your involvement is invaluable, and together, we can create an enriching and successful academic experience.

Thank you for entrusting us with your precious students. We look forward to a year of shared accomplishments, exciting learning opportunities, and strong bonds that will last a lifetime.

Love,

Dr. Angela

QUICK LINKS

THIS WEEK'S ESSENTIALS

JGB Everyone:1 Device Agreement

Brown Families,

Please read and complete the JCPS/Brown School Device Usage Agreement Form

It is important to know that continuing this school year, any Chromebook Repair or Replacement Obligation can be applied to the student's MySchoolBucks account.

Our School Technology Coordinator, Drew Paige, will email or call home to explain any repairs or replacements the student's Chromebook had to have and any amount owed to cover the damages. For example, a broken Chromebook screen voids the warranty and will endure a service repair of $30 owed by the family.

Here is a drafted email example of what you can expect to see if your child's Chromebook were to sustain any damages.

We did not receive all of our chargers back last school year when student's turned in their Chromebooks for the Summer. If your student has lost or broken their charger cord they can be purchased in the Ursa Lab. Used Chargers are $10 or brand new ones are $25 cash or check made out to the Brown School.

If you have any questions regarding technology at Brown, please email Drew (andrew.paige@jefferson.kyschools.us).

Picking Up Students in the Carpool Line (Alley)

The suggested route is turning right from Second Street onto Chestnut. If you drive so that the YMCA is on your left, turn left in the turning lane on Chestnut, pass the alley and turn right on First Street, then turn right on Broadway, which will then let you turn right on Second Street to put you into the flow of traffic parents are using to turn onto Chestnut. This also allows the traffic pattern in the area to be minimally disrupted.

MUSICAL NOTATIONS

ES Suzuki

The Brown School offers a unique opportunity for students to learn how to play the violin as early as 1st grade. The Suzuki program is for any student in grades 1-5. The Suzuki method focuses on learning to play the instrument first, then reading music later. This approach requires the Suzuki students to listen to Suzuki repertoire to learn the music. The Suzuki students will have two required performances, a day recital in December, and an evening recital in the spring. If your child is interested in signing-up for Suzuki please fill out the form linked HERE.

Thanks,

Tamika Carr

MS and HS Band

Welcome back to school everyone! We are gearing up for a wonderfully musical year in the band room.  All band students will need an instrument for class. You may use your own or rent one from the school if there is one available.  If you are in the beginning band and you don't know what you will play, please wait until we select your instrument to move forward.

Please talk to me if you have any questions. I am happy to help with whatever you need regarding instrument selection, rental and/or purchase.

If you would like to rent/purchase an instrument from the music store, I recommend the following reputable stores here in Louisville:

Elementary School Counselor

Welcome Back to School!  We are off to a great start today, our first day of school!  Way to go!

I popped into all the classrooms today (K-5) to say "Hi" and see how things were going.  I saw a lot of happy, engaged kids doing some really fun activities.  As our students transition back to school, teachers will be reviewing our school-wide expectations and other classroom, restroom, and cafe procedures to make sure that while we are having fun and learning a bunch that we are also being safe.

I will be doing my first lesson with students very soon to introduce myself as their counselor and introduce them to our Student Support Team (SST).

Check out our JGB Student Support Site - One stop shop for all things in the ElementarySST is still building this site, which is brand new this year!

There are several ways to contact me:

Have a wonderful week!
