PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH FOR ALL OUR STUDENTS!

Dear Brown School Family,

I hope this message finds you well. I am thrilled to share some exciting news that has us all beaming. Our school has officially qualified for the Community Eligibility Provision, meaning all our students will now have free breakfast and lunch. This is a momentous step towards fostering a healthier and more inclusive environment for our students. I couldn't be more thrilled about the positive impact this will have on their learning experiences.

The significance of this development cannot be overstated. Research has repeatedly shown the vital connection between nutrition and academic performance. When students access nutritious meals, their cognitive abilities, concentration, and overall well-being improve significantly. Proper nutrition ensures that students are physically and mentally prepared to engage actively in learning.

Studies have demonstrated that students with consistent access to healthy meals exhibit higher levels of achievement, improved attendance, and better behavior in the classroom. When their nutritional needs are met, students are more focused, energetic, and ready to absorb the knowledge we impart to them. Moreover, eliminating the stigma associated with reduced-price or free meals creates a more inclusive and positive atmosphere for all students.

By providing free meals to our students, we are enhancing their individual educational journeys and fostering a sense of unity, equity, and care within our school community. This initiative ensures that every student, regardless of their background or financial circumstances, has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.

I am incredibly proud to be a part of a school district that prioritizes the well-being of its students in such a tangible and meaningful way.

Sincerely,

Dr. Angela

QUICK LINKS

THIS WEEK'S ESSENTIALS

Do Not Use Neighboring Parking Lots

This is a friendly request that Brown School parents shouldn’t be using our parking lot as a drop off. We have had incidents this year which necessitated us hiring security again. Additionally, we continue to be concerned with children walking through and behind vehicles engaged in parking in our lot. Many of my staff have reported close calls with children and parents not looking while my staff and clients are parking and Brown patrons walking behind moving vehicles.  Murphy & Associates PLC is again putting you on notice to inform your students, staff, and parents that they must stay on the sidewalk while going to the Brown School and not cut behind or in front of vehicles in our parking lot. This is simply a safety issue and the only way to avoid a needless tragedy. Second, parents continue to ignore the Brown School’s designated drop off procedures. As I am sure you are aware the Dermatology building, and Murphy & Associates PLC have been using barriers to stop these rule breaking parents. I will do my best to provide photos and license plates of offending parents.

Thank you,

J. P. Ward

Costa Rica 2024 Summer Trip

Dear Brown School Families,

Did your student miss the sign up for the Costa Rica Trip last school year? We have 2 student spots still left open for travel in the Summer of 2024!  Your student is invited to join us on this amazing educational travel experience to Costa Rica. When students travel, they expand their knowledge of the world around them, discover more about themselves, and grow more confident. These skills are critical for creating the global citizens of tomorrow, and I would love to have your student join me on this adventure.  Students in grades 8-12 are invited to join.

Come hear all the details, including the itinerary, activities, academic opportunities, and the cost of our trip at our informational meeting on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 6:30 PM. The meeting will take place on a Google Meet at this LINK. You can also find our enrollment page here.

INSTRUMENT RENTALS: If you are renting an instrument for band from the Brown School, you will receive a RED form to sign. Please return to Amy --the band director.  When this form is on file, students will be able to bring their instrument home.   The Instrument rental fee may be paid on my school bucks as soon as it is set up.  Stay tuned for more information about instrument rental fee and class fee.

Beginning Band PERCUSSION: The Brown School band inventory does not have the band snare/bell kits that they need to start so I highly recommend that you rent a drum/bell kit for your child at the doowop shop so that they will have the appropriate items to KEEP AND PRACTICE AT HOME. SENIORS that need letters of rec from Robin or School Admin need to see the assignment in the Google Classroom Class of 2024.

JUNIORS that are considering Early Graduation need to complete a contract with Robin by 9/6. Discuss with Robin or Norah ASAP if you are considering this option.
