The purpose of this prompt was to practice media that I don't normally use, so I chose watercolor, pen, and charcoal. I think I did well creating values for all three subjects. I utilized analogous and complementary colors for the flower, lines for the purse, and tints and tones for the succulents.
When I thought about scale, I immediately thought of ships because they're just so big. From there I thought of something I could compare it with to emphasize just how humongous it was, which was the penguin in the front. Overall I enjoyed working with oil pastels and making the relationship of the foreground and background.
Honestly I chose a chair because I thought it would be easier to draw but it took me like 3 hours... anyways I really liked how the values turned out. I surprised myself with how well I was able to layer the markers, especially with my limited section of markers. I also liked how there was a velvet texture to it, even if it was coincidental.
Purrito
Media: Marker and Colored Pencils
Prompt: Create a meme.
I wanted to make a meme with a pun in it so I just thought of a silly combination with things I could draw fairly easily. It also helps that I like cats and burritos.
Laces
Media: Pencil
Prompt: LACES. Show depth-layering
I could only think of "laces" with shoes so I took a picture of my shoes from an interesting angle . It challenged me to create the depth that I usually don't see with shoe pictures.
Texture Pie
Media: Marker and Colored Pencil
Prompt: Things with flavor. Texture focus.
When I was considering which foods had obvious textures, I immediately thought of pie and the dough pattern it has on top. I also tried to play with the colors to convey the buttery and sweet flavor it has.
Figure Studies
Media: Marker, Pencil, and Colored Pencil
Prompt: Figure studies: draw 3 figures from observation
I needed 3 figures to draw from observation, so I grabbed some items from around the art room and arranged them in a way so that they overlapped. I also used multiple types of media to make the page a little more interesting.
