Standard1: Movement Competency and Understanding

Learning Goal:  I use information to help myself, and others improve.


Level 2 - I’m working towards the goal!



I know regular practice can help me improve my skills.


I know simple skills need to be mastered before more difficult ones.


I know improving my skills takes time and patience.


I can break a movement skill down to its simplest parts.


I know there might be many ways to improve a skill.


I can give and receive helpful feedback for the purpose of improving a skill.

I can explain the role practice and feedback plays in helping me improve my skills.

Level 4 - I can go farther!



I can use technology, such as a video tool to analyze a movement skill.

Learning Goal:  I can demonstrate skills to play a variety of games.

I know movement skills form the foundation for all game play.


I can list the key steps for dribbling, throwing, catching and striking.


I can demonstrate weight transfer and follow through when throwing.


I can demonstrate momentary balance using different parts of my body.


I can demonstrate rhythm by jumping a rope consistently.


I can mimic the steps and patterns in a simple dance routine.

I can throw, catch, dribble and strike an object with a partner.


I can dribble an object using both my feet and hands while preventing another from stealing it.

I can create and perform a rhythmic routine using gymnastics, creative dance or a jump rope.


Standard 2: Personal and Physical Wellness

Learning Goal:  I know ways to stay physically active both in, and outside P.E. class.

I know exercise and physical activity is good for my health.


I can incorporate more physical activity into my daily routines.


I know where parks, trails, courts and recreation centers are in my neighborhood.


I can play games and be physically active at recess.


I can try new games, sports and physical activities.


I can use words like:  lifestyle, physical activity, community resources

I can take responsibility for choosing healthy habits for regular physical activity.

I can create and carry out a physical activity plan that includes a minimum of sixty minutes of moderate-to-vigorous activity everyday.

I can measure my heart rate before, during and after exercise.

I know my decisions and behavior affects other people.


I can solve disagreements in peaceful ways.


I can advocate for myself, and others.


I can show respect for my teammates, officials and opponents.

I can demonstrate responsible behavior and decision making while playing games, sports and other physical activities with others.

I can discuss, using examples how knowing how to manage stress and peer pressure that can help me in other aspects of my school and personal life.


Standard 4: Risk Management and Prevention

Learning Goal:  I can be safe in the gym, at recess and in other physical activity settings.

I know safety is everyone’s responsibility.


I can explain the safety rules and practices prior to participating in a game.


I can identify safety equipment for different games and sports.


I can design a set of safety rules for a game, sport or other activity with help from my teacher.


I can evaluate a playing area to check for possible safety hazards.


I can follow the rules for a game to keep myself and others safe.


I can use words like:  rules, safety, self-control, decision-making

I can use self-control and good decision making to avoid accidents and injuries.


I can use materials and equipment safely.
