Students enrolled in Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses at Jackson County High School for the 2026–2027 school year are expected to complete supplemental assignments before their AP/IB course begins. These assignments are designed to help students build background knowledge, preview the first unit of the course, and prepare for the expectations and rigor of AP/IB coursework.

How do I know which AP/IB courses I am scheduled to take?

You received course information in May for the 2026–2027 school year. Use that information to determine which AP/IB supplemental assignments you need to complete.

When are the supplemental assignments due?

Students enrolled in 1st semester AP/IB courses should complete their assignments before returning to school in August.
Students enrolled in 2nd semester AP/IB courses should complete their assignments before the course begins in January.

Why am I being asked to complete supplemental assignments?

These assignments are not meant to be punitive. They are intended to help you start the course prepared, build background knowledge, and feel ready to be successful in your AP/IB coursework.

Do I need to complete every assignment listed?

No. You only need to complete the supplemental assignment for each AP/IB course you are scheduled to take during the 2026–2027 school year.

How will I know which teacher I have for an AP or IB class?

You will know your assigned teachers when full schedules are released in July. However, all advanced course supplemental work is the same for all teachers and all periods, so you can begin working on the assignment before teacher assignments are released.
