What an incredible day we had hosting so many knowledgeable professionals for Career Day! It was truly inspiring to see our students dreaming big, dressed up, and exploring the many future careers they may one day pursue. We are all about equipping our students to be career-ready, and today was a fantastic step in that journey!
We also wrapped up our final Eagle Experience Day for the school year, and what a great way to celebrate student curiosity and exploration. Thank you to everyone who made these special opportunities possible!
As we head into Spring Break, we hope you take time to rest, recharge, and enjoy time with family and friends. When we return, we’ll be adventuring through the final weeks of the school year, making special memories, and climbing to the pinnacle of learning. Let’s finish strong, Eagles!

Our Spring 2025 Georgia Milestones testing dates are approaching, with testing beginning April 28 for grades 3-5. Please read the attached memo for the full schedule and important details. The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) has posted a Milestones Parent Resource page on its website. You may use this link to access the information. Let’s support and cheer on our students as they shine!
Sign up today! The Georgia Department of Education has partnered with Tutored by Teachers to offer free virtual reading classes for third graders. These engaging classes are designed to support students’ success on the Georgia Milestones and will take place from Monday, April 14th to Thursday, 17th, with two evening session options (5 pm and 7 pm).
If your child will be 5 years old by September 1, 2025, it's time to register for Kindergarten in Jackson County Schools. Visit www.jacksonschoolsga.org/register to complete the process. You'll need to provide a birth certificate, proof of residency, parent/guardian photo ID, and up-to-date immunization records. Students currently enrolled in a JCSS Pre-K program do not need to register.
South Jackson and the Jackson County School System's 2025-26 Pre-K Lottery Registration opens on Sunday, Dec. 1. Registration for the lottery does not guarantee placement into the state-funded program. For more information and to apply online, visit www.jacksonschoolsga.org/prek.
Safety is our top priority during arrival and dismissal. Help everyone stay on time and out of harms way by following our trusty eagle timeline and car rider protocols. Staff will be on hand at the front of the school everyday from 7:00-7:35 and 2:35-2:55 to ensure student safety.
Did you know we have our own Little Free Library? Located in the back parking lot near the trail entrance, this tiny library is filled with books waiting to be discovered. Feel free to stop by to take a book or leave a children's book for others to borrow; let's keep SJ Eagles reading!

The Nicholson Public Library has two exciting programs during the week of Spring Break.
Tuesday, April 8 at 10:30 AM – Meet ambassador animals from Bear Hollow Zoo and learn all about them up close.
Sewing Class – Open to anyone 10 and older (registration required). Come learn a new skill and get creative.
Both events are free, but children must be accompanied by a caregiver. Don’t miss out on these great opportunities!
Here Comes The Bus for the Jackson County School System is now live! Here Comes The Bus allows for families and students to track the location of their school bus. The app will notify families of morning and afternoon arrival, and is a great transportation enhancement. Please note the app may take 24-48 hours to update. If after a problem with the application arises following the update window, please contact the JCSS Transportation Department via email at transportation@jcss.us. #SuccessatJCSS #AllAroundExcellence

Infinite Campus
All families should set up an Infinite Campus Parent Portal Account. Click HERE to set up your child's account. This account allows you to receive important school messages through the Parent Square app. If you have trouble with this process, email Mrs. Embry at angie.embry@jcss.us After a parent portal account has been activated, please allow 24 hours for the information to sync with the Parent Square app to be able to message teachers. If you are unable to use Parent Square at any time, please send your child's teacher an email.
