Expectations
LMS/LIS sets high and demanding academic expectations for every student.
Topper Tech Students are given a weekly Canvas assignment as well as being tasked with Chromebook repair and teacher assistance.
Students who come with their class are expected to follow the teacher’s instructions.
Students who come on their own are expected to work quietly and diligently.
Students must have teacher permission to be in the library without their class.
LMS/LIS encourages students to learn from mistakes.
Topper Tech students learn more with each Chromebook repair they complete.
Students who forget their Chromebooks at home must bring a form to the library in order to check out a Day User Chromebook. They must learn to bring their computer every day.
LMS/LIS creates learning opportunities where all students can experience success.
Various types of learning activities are given to Topper Tech students to accommodate their different learning styles.
Students who use the library have a variety of spaces for use to accommodate different learning styles.
Students take initiative and follow through with their own work.
Canvas assignments are self-guided and self-paced.
Tech Team members must work through difficult tasks independently.
Dual enrollment students use the library and must work independently.
LMS/LIS optimizes instructional time, teaches more material, and demands better performance from every student.
Assignments are posted prior to Monday morning and are due by that Friday.
As the semester progresses, Topper Tech students are expected to handle more difficult repairs as they learn more about the Chromebooks.
Managing Student Behavior
Students are constantly well-behaved, and on task.
Topper Tech students are expected to remain at their station and take care of repairs as they come in, unless they have been sent out on a task.
Students who come to the library are monitored by the library staff and classroom teachers in order to keep them on task.
Lunch students must meet expectations or they are asked to leave, after being warned.
LMS/LIS and students establish clear rules for learning and behavior.
Behavior expectations are set and posted on the weekly library scroll and signs around the library.
The LMS/LIS uses several techniques such as social approval, contingent activities, and consequences to maintain appropriate student behavior.
All students are welcome in the library as long as they meet expectations.
Students at lunch who do not maintain expected behavior are warned, then asked to leave the library if the behavior continues.
Lunch students who repeatedly misbehave lose their lunch privileges for a period of time.
Students who come without their class must have a teacher note and are monitored. If they misbehave they are warned. If it continues they are sent back to class.
Students who come with their class are monitored by library staff and the teacher. Misbehavior is discussed with the student and the teacher, when necessary.
The LMS/LIS overlooks inconsequential behavior.
Behavior issues are dealt with as needed.
Minor issues are overlooked if the problem does not persist.
Students are given warnings before further action is taken.
The LMS/LIS deals with students who have caused disruptions rather than the entire class.
Students are dealt with on an individual basis during lunch and classes.
The LMS/LIS attends to disruptions quickly and firmly.
The library staff monitors all lunches as well as classes in the library to ensure that students are on task and maintaining appropriate behavior.
Environment
The library
welcomes all members and guests.
Everyone is welcome in the library as long as they exhibit appropriate behavior.
Before and after school clubs and groups meet in the library.
Individual students are welcome before and after school during open hours for checkout or study.
All teachers in the building are encouraged to utilize the library.

The library is organized using the Dewey Decimal System, with genre stickers, and is searchable on Destiny.
Posters direct students to books of different genres.
Signs are posted to direct patrons to specific genres.
Shelves are labeled for ease of use.
Shelves are organized in a logical manner.
Books are displayed and many are placed facing out to encourage checkouts.

Two search stations are available for patrons to look up resources.
Students can access the catalog through their SSO Portal where they can also place holds.
The online catalog, database, and library information are kept up to date on the school library website.
Several signs are posted to direct patrons to database log-in information.
A Student Supply Station is provided so students have access to pens, pencils, staplers, tape, hole punch, etc… for whatever they may be working on.

LMS/LIS-student interactions demonstrate caring and respect for one another.
Library staff respects student individuality and welcomes everyone into the library.
Students exhibit caring and respect for one another.
Students are expected to treat each other with respect.
One of the lunch expectations is to be respectful of others in the library.
LMS/LIS seeks out, and is receptive to the interests and opinions of all students.
Students are asked to give book recommendations and suggestions for the library
Library materials are chosen with respect to the diversity of the school community.
Positive relationships and interdependence characterize the library environment.
Patrons are greeted and welcomed as they enter the library.
The library staff offers assistance when needed.
