The Scholarship page is continuously updated with new opportunities available to Smoky Mountain High School students.
Some scholarships require students to pick up applications from the Student Support Center.
If you need a transcript or recommendation letter, be sure to submit the request forms well in advance.
Scholarship alerts are shared through your JCPS student email and occasionally through Sunday Connect-Ed calls and Parent Square.
Never pay to apply for a scholarship.
You are responsible for applying—don’t wait for others to do it for you.
Check your college’s website for freshman scholarships; SMHS is not always notified of these.
Contact your college admission counselor or financial aid office for more information on school-specific awards.
Don’t procrastinate! Stay organized, meet deadlines, and start early.
Give teachers and counselors at least two weeks’ notice for recommendation letters. Provide them with your resume or activity list so they can write the strongest letter possible.
Keep your applications clean, clear, and professional—typed applications are always recommended.
All students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and sign it using their FSA ID. This is an important step in qualifying for financial aid.
If you have questions about scholarship opportunities, the application process, or need help finding scholarships to apply for, contact your School Counselor—they are happy to assist you.
