The Elms Student Green Team is an interactive educational program that empowers students and teachers to help the environment through waste reduction, recycling, gardening, and energy conservation. We are engaged in advancing sustainability within our school and our community. The current Green Team was re-established in 2021 by Ms. Shaina Brenner, Mrs. Jessica Fioretti, and Mrs. Sheryl Konopack- all whom are passionate about increasing climate change awareness and helping children build the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to have a positive impact on our earth and our future. Today, the team is proudly led by Ms. Brenner and Mrs. Konopack.

The Elms Student Green Team is managed by two volunteer staff members: Ms. Shaina Brenner [Grade 2 Teacher] and Mrs. Sheryl Konopack [Grade 5 Teacher]. In the fall of each school year, those students in grades 3, 4, and 5 who are interested in joining the Green Team are asked to complete an online application. After a rigorous screening process, members are selected to participate in monthly after-school meetings.
