These sessions are designed to allow some learning to take place from the facilitator, but more learning will take place from peers and colleagues during open discussions. Along with this new learning and collaboration, participants will have time to work independently, as well as with others to create activities they can implement or utilize in their classroom. Separate registration is required for each session offered. Click the link below for more information.
Elevate your mathematics instruction with this engaging training that was originally presented by Dr. Paul Riccomini at PaTTAN. Tailored for educators across all grade levels (K-12), this training focuses on equipping teachers with research-based strategies to enhance acquisition and retention of critical mathematical concepts and skills throughout the academic year. In this training, participants will dive into the cognitive science behind learning and retention, exploring how students acquire and maintain mathematical knowledge. With a focus on practical applications, teachers will learn how to incorporate high-impact strategies into their classrooms, including blocked practice, spaced learning over time, interleaving, and retrieval practice. These techniques are designed to make practice sessions more intentional, engaging, and effective in fostering both initial acquisition and long-term mathematical understanding. This is a two part training, and participants must attend both days. Click the link below for more information.
Discover how hands-on tools can unlock deeper mathematical understanding for students in intermediate/middle levels of math (4-8) and Algebra. This engaging, practice-based workshop empowers educators to use manipulatives to make abstract concepts tangible, support diverse learners, and foster critical thinking in the math classroom.
Participants will explore a range of manipulatives—from algebra tiles to fraction models to geometric solids—and learn how to integrate them meaningfully into instruction across upper elementary, middle, and high school levels. Through collaborative activities and reflective discussion, educators will gain both the theory and practical strategies to enhance math instruction and student engagement.
