LLVS online learners and their families were able to join us for an exciting and educational field trip to celebrate the life and legacy of Johnny Appleseed! This immersive program from Lancaster County Parks & Recreation transported students back in time. This hands on experience will gave learners the opportunity to use an old fashioned cider press.

The Downtown Lancaster, PA Historical Walking Tour offered a fascinating glimpse into the rich heritage of one of America's oldest inland cities. LLVS online learners guided by the Lancaster Historical Society were able to walk through key landmarks, including the historic Central Market (the oldest continuously operating farmers market in the U.S.), and the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in Penn Square. Along the way, participants learned about Lancaster’s colonial roots, its role in the Revolutionary War, and its importance during the Industrial Revolution. The tour blended architectural beauty with tales of local figures like Thaddeus Stevens, a notable abolitionist.

LLVS Online Learners were able to visit the Millersville University Campus for an admissions overview and a walking tour of the campus.  Learners were able to see all of the main buildings and get to go into a dorm room to check out the living space

LLVS online learners, parents, and district advisors spent the day together exploring Lake Tobias Wildlife Park. The safari tour was a highlight, offering a chance to get up close to bison, elk, and deer as they roamed freely in the open fields. Walking through the park learners enjoyed a variety of exhibits, from the petting zoo to the reptile house. The visit both fun and educational. It’s a great place for families or anyone who loves wildlife.

LLVS online learners, parents, and district advisors spent the afternoon together celebrating the end of the school year. Learners were able to connect over lunch, ice cream, and outdoor games. Learners were also able to visit with Aldinger Farms baby Kangaroos.

In this workshop LLVS online learners were able to explore the latest in VR.  With the ExpeditionsPro app learners explored: Mount Everest, 7 Wonders of the World, under the sea, waterfalls, and Giraffe’s in Africa. In the portable planetarium system, the Starlab, learners explored the galaxies, constellations, and Greek mythologies

LLVS Online Learners spent the morning at Middle Creeks interactive visitor center. Learners were able to see a mammal program in the auditorium where various animal pellets were displayed and described. Learners were also able to participate in a hike outdoors and learned about the habitat surrounding the wildlife center.

 LLVS Online Learners shared in a  morning of fun, strategy, and camaraderie as we came together to celebrate the joy of board games.  Learners brought  along their favorite board game to share with others .  Candy Land, Connect4, Clue, Frozen Monopoly, Jenga, and Guess Who, were all a big hit with our participants!

Fizzics presents Light and Color! So much science in this program! Investigate the visible light spectrum, including color addition and subtraction. Online learners were able to explore luminescent minerals and other objects using ultraviolet light. Find out why sunsets are red and learn about color and energy relationships. Make colored shadows and create hovering images. Learn about translucent, transparent and opaque materials. Operate zoetropes and flip books to create cartoons. Learn about refraction vs. reflection and how to make a telescope. Investigate optical fiber and its use in hi-speed broadband technology. Find out about your color vision; can you see all of the spectrum? Mix creative color-changing chemical concoctions, see illusions and more!






Constellations in the Winter Night Sky. The winter night sky has some of the most recognizable constellations, including Orion the hunter, Taurus the bull, and Gemini the twins. Once you’ve found Orion, you can easily navigate to the Pleiades star cluster, the Dog star Sirius, and many others. In this virtual event Online Learners  learned about the stars and planets visible in the winter sky, and the science and history behind these objects.

LLVS Online Learners took a tour of The PA College of Art & Design. The tour was led by student ambassadors. They reviewed the history of the college, the admissions process, degree programs, and spent time answering student questions.
