Under the guidance of Topaz Martofel, a skilled balloon artist, online learners explored the basics of twisting and knot tying. Learners were provided all the necessary materials, including balloons and pumps. Learners received hands-on experience creating five unique designs: Butterfly, Bumble Bee, Dog, Flower, and Sword. This workshop sparked creativity and brought plenty of smiles as they learned the fun art of balloon twisting!
Our online learners had the opportunity to attend a Creative Expressions Art Workshop! They explored various artistic techniques, from sketching to painting, and expressed their unique visions on canvas. By experimenting with brush strokes and applying varying pressure to the brush, they added depth and texture to their artworks. The highlight of the event was creating an adorable Emu!
Our online learners enjoyed a delightful trip to Hershey's Chocolate World! They had the chance to create their own candy bars, witnessing the transformation from flowing chocolate to solid treats. They selected their favorite ingredients and designed personalized wrappers!
Learners explored the captivating world of freshwater ecosystems with the 'Discovering Stream Ecosystems' workshop! Through scientific investigation and environmental stewardship, learners gained insights into the crucial role these ecosystems play in our natural world.
Learners had an exciting adventure at Humane Pennsylvania! They engaged in enjoyable, age-appropriate activities, explored the intriguing facility, and interacted with some of the friendliest animals. This perfect blend of learning and hands-on experience was a memorable day for everyone!
Students had an incredible time learning about the history of making maple syrup! 🌳🍁 We discovered how to identify sugar maple trees, tapped them to collect the sap, and transformed it into delicious syrup. This hands-on experience was a fantastic opportunity for our online learners to dive into the fascinating syrup-making process. And guess what? It left us all craving even more maple syrup!
Online learners learned the importance of reptile care, past decisions that influenced the future of reptiles, diversity in the reptile world, and, most importantly, how each reptile had a unique personality.
After the presentation, students had hands-on time with each reptile and had the opportunity to ask questions.
Online learners enjoyed a morning of fun, strategy, and camaraderie as they celebrated the joy of board games. Participants brought along their favorite board games to share, made new friends, and strengthened their connections within the online learning community.
LLVS Online Learners visited the PA College of Art and Design Campus in Lancaster City for a college overview and a walking tour. After touring the campus, online learners and their families took a quick trip to Rock Lititz and visited the PACAD classrooms there.
LLVS Online Learners had the opportunity to tour the Fulton Theatre. The tour shared with the learners Fulton's rich history and offered a glimpse into how today's staff of artists and administrators create the theatre's productions. Participants were able to tour various parts of the Fulton Theatre.
Online learners participated in an engaging and educational wildlife program presented by Raven Ridge Wildlife Center. The event provided a unique opportunity for students to learn about various wildlife species, including the Eastern Box Turtles, Skunks, Falcons, Hawks, and Black Vultures. They learned about each species' habitats, behaviors, and conservation efforts.
LLVS online learners were invited to the 3rd annual Winter Celebration! Learners participated in a gingerbread man decorating contest where first, second, and third place received prizes! LLVS online learners could also participate in craft stations, including reindeer clay pots, popsicle magnet trees, snowflake creations, candy trees, and more!

LLVS Online Learners visited the Elizabethtown College Campus for an admissions overview and a walking tour of the campus with a student Blue Jay Ambassador. Students in attendance visited the dorms, psychology building and spoke with professors, the fitness center, student dining, and Baugher Student Center.
LLVS Online Learners had the opportunity to explore the stars and constellations in the portable planetarium Starlab. They also visited various craft stations to reinforce what they learned. Some of the craft stations were:
Create Own Constellation - Online learners created a constellation from pretzels, marshmallows, and pipe cleaners.
Create a Constellation Jar Lamp - Online learners created a constellation lamp from mason jars, glow sticks, and aluminum foil.
Constellation Coloring Sheets - Coloring activities of different constellations.
LLVS Online Learners were able to visit Oregon Dairy for a day of fall fun! Learners participated in various activities such as the strawmound playground, the straw tunnel, kids’ skid maze, skee-ball, pebble playground, jumbo jenga, jumbo connect-4, tic-tac-toe, jumbo checkers, corn hole, Hamster Wheel Races, Grainbin basketball, Tetherball, and Ring Toss!
LLVS Online Learners visited Saint Joseph's University in Lancaster for an admissions overview and a tour of the building. Students viewed multiple patient simulators and replica hospital rooms. Some of the health care simulation labs included: x-rays, phlebotomy, and sonography.
LLVS Online Learners shared in a morning of fun, strategy, and camaraderie as we came together to celebrate the joy of board games. Learners brought along their favorite board game to share with others . Candy Land, Connect4, Clue, Frozen Monopoly, Jenga, and Guess Who, were all a big hit with our participants!
Fizzics presents Light and Color! So much science in this program! Investigate the visible light spectrum, including color addition and subtraction. Online learners were able to explore luminescent minerals and other objects using ultraviolet light. Find out why sunsets are red and learn about color and energy relationships. Make colored shadows and create hovering images. Learn about translucent, transparent and opaque materials. Operate zoetropes and flip books to create cartoons. Learn about refraction vs. reflection and how to make a telescope. Investigate optical fiber and its use in hi-speed broadband technology. Find out about your color vision; can you see all of the spectrum? Mix creative color-changing chemical concoctions, see illusions and more!
Constellations in the Winter Night Sky. The winter night sky has some of the most recognizable constellations, including Orion the hunter, Taurus the bull, and Gemini the twins. Once you’ve found Orion, you can easily navigate to the Pleiades star cluster, the Dog star Sirius, and many others. In this virtual event Online Learners learned about the stars and planets visible in the winter sky, and the science and history behind these objects.
LLVS Online Learners took a tour of The PA College of Art & Design. The tour was led by student ambassadors. They reviewed the history of the college, the admissions process, degree programs, and spent time answering student questions.
