Learner Engagement Program

LLVS online learners were invited to the 3rd annual Winter Celebration! Learners participated in a gingerbread man decorating contest, where first, second, and third place received prizes! LLVS online learners could also participate in craft stations, including reindeer clay pots, popsicle magnet trees, snowflake creations, candy trees, and more!

LLVS Online Learners visited the Main Campus of Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology for an admissions overview and a walking tour. Thaddeus Stevens showcased the following areas of study:

• Electrical

• Masonry

• Piping and Plumbing

• Cabinetry and Wood Technology

• Carpentry Technology

• Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning

• Refrigeration

LLVS Online Learners had the opportunity to visit Elizabethtown College, where they received an admissions presentation and participated in a guided walking tour led by a student Blue Jay Ambassador. During their visit, students explored the residence halls, toured the psychology building, engaged in conversations with faculty members, and visited key campus facilities, including the fitness center, student dining areas, and the Baugher Student Center.

LLVS online learners had the opportunity to explore the North Museum independently.  Students visited and explored the Ornithology Gallery, the Shallow Seas, the Paleontology Gallery, the Live Animal Room, the Nature Gallery, the Geology Room, and the STEAM Art Gallery.

LLVS Online Learners had the opportunity to explore the stars and constellations in the portable planetarium Starlab. They also visited various craft stations to reinforce what they learned. Some of the craft stations were:

• Create Own Constellation - Online learners created a constellation from pretzels, marshmallows, and pipe cleaners.

• Create a Constellation Jar Lamp - Online learners created a constellation lamp from mason jars, glow sticks, and aluminum foil.

• Constellation Coloring Sheets - Coloring activities of different constellations.

LLVS Online Learners were able to visit Oregon Dairy for a day of fall fun!  Learners participated in various activities such as the strawmound playground, the straw tunnel, kids’ skid maze, skee-ball, pebble playground, jumbo jenga, jumbo connect-4, tic-tac-toe, jumbo checkers, corn hole, Hamster Wheel Races, Grainbin basketball, Tetherball, and Ring Toss!

LLLLVS Online Learners visited Saint Joseph's University in Lancaster for an admissions overview and a tour of the building. Students viewed multiple patient simulators and replica hospital rooms.  Some of the health care simulation labs included: x-rays, phlebotomy, and sonography.

LLVS online learners and their families were able to join us for an exciting and educational field trip to celebrate the life and legacy of Johnny Appleseed! This immersive program from Lancaster County Parks & Recreation transported students back in time. This hands-on experience allowed learners to use an old-fashioned cider press.

The Downtown Lancaster, PA Historical Walking Tour offered a fascinating glimpse into the rich heritage of one of America's oldest inland cities. LLVS online learners guided by the Lancaster Historical Society were able to walk through key landmarks, including the historic Central Market (the oldest continuously operating farmers market in the U.S.), and the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in Penn Square. 

LLVS Online Learners were able to visit the Millersville University Campus for an admissions overview and a walking tour of the campus.  Learners were able to see all of the main buildings and get to go into a dorm room to check out the living space.

LLVS online learners, parents, and district advisors spent the day together exploring Lake Tobias Wildlife Park. The safari tour was a highlight, offering a chance to get up close to bison, elk, and deer as they roamed freely in the open fields. Walking through the park, learners enjoyed a variety of exhibits, from the petting zoo to the reptile house. The visit was both fun and educational. It’s a great place for families or anyone who loves wildlife.
