Description: This session will introduce or re-familiarize the audience with the Edmentum suite of products, specifically Exact Path, our adaptive diagnostic and individualized learning plan solution. Topics include using adaptive diagnostics to identify skill gaps, using adaptive individualized learning paths, and providing remediation and acceleration opportunities for students to ensure they are ready for grade-level content. Additionally, we will spotlight our Standards Mastery component of Exact Path, which supports standards-based grade reporting and PSSA assessment readiness.

Description: Hummingbird kits from Bird Brain Technologies were used for a design challenge with gifted classes in our middle school and for 7th grade ELA classes. In this session learn more about the hummingbird kit and how they can be used in your class today. How to borrow the kits from the IU13 lending library will be explained as well as ideas on how to get started.

Hexagonal Thinking: Building Connections and Facilitating Discussion

Description: Hexagonal thinking can be used in any subject area with any age group. Whether students are making novel connections, looking at historical events, learning new vocabulary, analyzing characters, or looking at equations, students are using critical thinking skills to debate and provide evidence to support their reasoning. Students work to visually connect a series of ideas or words written on paper or digital hexagons around a theme. Hexagonal thinking requires students to establish and explain connections around a given concept.

Description: This self-paced session provides participants the opportunity to explore a variety of Computer Science tools and equipment available in the IMS Lending Library, and interact with other educators to brainstorm hands-on classroom uses for integrating Computer Science and STEELS standards. By the end of the session, participants will be certified to borrow the IMS Lending Materials that they explored during the session.
