Educating for Employability and Postsecondary Success with EVERFI

EVERFI provides educators with engaging, online learning resources in topics such as financial literacy, digital literacy/citizenship, STEM readiness, entrepreneurship, career readiness, and more. Each course is standards-aligned and free of charge to schools. EVERFI courses help tackle the career and college preparedness issues facing students today. Participants will learn how to integrate EVERFI's free, online courses to work in their classrooms to enhance current curriculum and student engagement.

Description: Come check out the new and improved Flip (formerly Flipgrid) from Microsoft and learn how to specifically use the free program to build relationships within your classroom, school, community, and beyond! This hands on station style session will allow you to be in charge of your learning! Bring some headphones if that is how you learn best or collaborate with others! Having an iPad or tablet to scan a QR code would be ideal but a laptop works well too!

Conjuring Creativity

Description: Creativity is challenging to define and support in the classroom. It can often be perceived as 'nebulous' or 'impossible to grade,' but participants will leave this session with some strategies and processes for supporting creativity in the classroom including Computational Thinking, Design Thinking, Engineering Design, and Divergent Thinking processes and strategies. Participants will discover a variety of processes and strategies to conjure creativity in the classroom and leave with knowledge and resources on processes which drive creativity in students.

This session will focus on using Google Slides to replace traditional note taking methods and adapt paper handouts for dynamic and responsive activities. Some of the benefits we will explore include: increasing cognitive, social, and behavioral rigor, infusing dynamic media, and differentiation. By the end of the session, you will walk away with a functional, editable template that you can use right away.

Esports on a Shoestring Budget

Description: Getting starting with an eSports team at your school does not have to be expensive or just for high school. In this session, you will hear how to collaborate with key people in your school to affordably launch eSports, and inspire students to think of it as more than gaming. We will wrap up with the positive SEL coming from this as well.
