Created an ePortfolio to map out my experience in my Introduction to Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) course that exhibits my interests, passions, and knowledge from my class's projects.
I had the opportunity to take half of a semester to fully discover why I chose ECE, how it compliments my goals/passions and the value about learning more about my major. The specific categories included:
My personal values where I was able to see how being an Electrical Engineer could bolster my values, specifically in the environmental aspect because of renewable energy.
My career goals/interests also allowed me to consider the overall life I want to create for myself through Electrical Engineering and how it aligns with my goals.
My favorite aspect was doing two article reviews that expressed my specific passions, one being reduction in energy consumption and the other being alternate energy usages.
The most educational and reassuring was an interview where I discussed the challenges and path that an Electrical Engineering professor at Bucknell had.
To show my progress and physical experiences, I documented my two projects during my time in ECEG 100: IoT Sensor System and then Interpreting the Data with MATLAB.

During my process, I honestly found the experience to be slightly challenging because I hadn't understood the purpose of the ePortfolio yet nor the interface of the site.
After completing a few sections, I had to then discover the importance of creating a portfolio that was a personalized creation.
Once I found that, the number of times I had to revise my portfolio because it didn't look right or reflect what I wanted to, became numerous.
Seeing the portfolio as a tool that has a broad use rather than single-use for my assignment.
I feel that the portfolio/assignment helped me become more confident in being an Electrical Engineering student since I had recently switched out of Environmental Engineering.
I learned more about my goals and passions along with discovering the hardships I will likely face along the way.
I also appreciated seeing my growth as I developed my ePortfolio. When I first designed it, I barely personalized to reflect me, but as I grew to love my major and my feeling of belonging, I felt inspired to make my Portfolio reflect my appreciation and dedication to my education.
Growth as an ECE student and ePortfolio creator is reiterative. There is a revolving process of revisiting, reconsidering, updating, and reconceptualizing as a student but also what I create in my portfolios. Having the ability to see my reiteration is unique about ePortfolios.
The ePortfolio has provided such a unique opportunity in allowing me to map out my views and experiences. I truly found the skills and platform to be a great way to personalize experiences so that no matter how alike my experience was to others, I could create a design that reflected my personality and creativity while sharing my knowledge of the course. This is a noteworthy quality of ePortfolios because I can record and present my work to future employers or schools that is professional but also speaks a lot in itself of the type of person I am and the work I produce.
I plan to produce another ePortfolio by the end of the summer because I have been involved in summer research at Bucknell University. I plan to take a week after my job ends, so I can record all of my experiences and knowledge. I truly want to be able to keep a record of my research so I can present it to a future graduate school.
