Global Learners, Lifelong Service Google Classroom. This a place to share ideas and resources
The ISY Learning Cycle was developed in partnership with consultant Cathy Berger-Kaye to support ISY's interdisciplinary approach to learning by:
providing a common language for learning in all subjects and grade levels.
providing a focus for feedback on learning.
promoting service and design learning in all subjects.
providing a common structure for lesson and unit design.
promoting student action and agency.
promoting the development of interdisciplinary action.
promoting the development and assessment of ISY Learner Attributes.
The ISY Learning Cycle is made up of 3 sub-cycles:
Learning: The outside cycle can be used for all learning.
Service: The middle cycle incorporates the 5 Stages of Service Learning and is to be used for service learning.
Design: The inside cycle is a design cycle to be used when designing products and solutions.
The main headings (Investigate - Prepare - Act - Demonstrate - Reflect) are the 5 Stages of Service Learning. This puts service learning at the center of everything we do in the curriculum.
The ISY Learning Cycle is designed so learning can move between service and design learning at any stage of a lesson or unit (even if that lesson or unit did not start out with a service or design focus).
