We consider homework to be an important part of the learning process. Independent practice is important.
Homework can be used as a valid form of assessment if the teacher can be certain that the work has been completed by the student and is representative of their abilities. The teacher will compare work completed in class to work completed at home to be certain of this.
Therefore, homework completed by students will be used, in combination with all of the students' work completed in class, to help determine fair and accurate quarter and semester grades.
Homework can be assigned for the following purposes:
Preview - e.g. students can be assigned a video to watch or an article to read that introduces a new idea that will be taught in the next class.
Practice - e.g. math problems based on skills that have already been taught.
Review - e.g. test preparation.
Homework will be assigned as per these time requirements:
