Advisory
Students do best when their social-emotional needs are met and they feel connected to not only their peers but to the adults in the school environment. Therefore, Advisory at ISU is designed to facilitate and build relationships amongst students, teachers, and the community. Our objective is to help students understand who they are, who they want to be and to give them the tools and opportunities to get there. The advisory class should become ‘a home base’ at school and will include but are not limited to:
Check-in and reminders
Provide a positive start to the day
Support intellectual & social emotional growth
Encourage character building
Promote community connection and responsibility
Advisory/Academic Support
Provide opportunities for Social Emotional Learning with smaller groups of students
Service as Action/ CAS
Provide opportunities for students to meet in groups to collaborate on actions that will raise awareness of relevant local or global issues and concerns
Assemblies
Provide opportunities for students to meet with each other by class or as a whole school in assemblies, and forums
Activities
Provide opportunities for students to self-manage and engage with experiences and skills, which can be supported at this time (WWW, PP, EE, CAS,etc. )
