Creativity, Activity and Service
The IBO’s goal is to educate the whole person and foster responsible, compassionate citizens. The CAS programme encourages students to share their energy and special talents with others. Students may, for example, participate in theatre or musical production, sports, and community service volunteer activities. Students should, through these activities, develop greater awareness of themselves, concern for others, and the ability to work cooperatively with other people. Here is the CAS libguide.
Extended Essay
The extended essay is an academic research project, which devles deeply into an area of interest for each student. This process takes one year to complete and involves a 4,000 word essay about a topic of choice. Students receive a supervisor who helps them through this process. ISU uses a libguide to organize this process.
Theory of Knowledge
All students in grades 11 and 12 take the Theory of Knowledge course. It involves an exploration of knowledge issues and questions in which students gain a better understanding of different perspectives and concepts when reviewing global phenomena. The course is an opportunity for them to further build analysis skills and bring numerous ideas together into cohesive conceptual understandings.
