The school provides stationery for students. In the Secondary school, textbooks are loaned to students as needed. It is expected that students take good care of these books and return them in good, clean condition at the end of the year. Students who return books that are deemed abused will be liable for the replacement cost of a new text. Students who lose their textbook will be charged the full replace costs.
In addition, ISU expects all students in Grades 9-12 to buy and bring their own calculator, as specified by ISU, to the appropriate classes every day.
Students in Grades 6 to 9 should have available a scientific calculator. The school has a class set of the Texas Instrument (TI) 30X IIS that students may use during class. Students should have access to the same or similar calculator at home. For Grades 10,11 and 12, the students need to have a graphic display calculator as required by the IB Diploma program. The school uses the TI Nspire CX II starting in Grade 10 and it meets the IB Diploma Program requirements. Students need to purchase their own TI Nspire CX II. This calculator is not currently available in Mongolia, it must be purchased online or outside of Mongolia.
Students in Grades 6-12 are expected to bring their own writing tools (pencils, pens, erasers); writing notebooks; organizer or planner in which to record daily homework, projects and longer term assignments as well as assessment results and other important calendar and information.
Students are not expected to bring laptops or other mobile computing devices to school although this is certainly encouraged – with the understand that the school assumes no responsibility for loss, theft or damage of these devices. Lockers are provided to those students who wish to use one)
