ISA Test Results from February 2023

The tests were taken by students from Grade 3 to Grade 10. Below are the average test  scores  by grade in each of the four test areas:

• Reading

• Writing - Narrative / Reflective

• Writing - Exposition / Argument

• Mathematical Literacy

The charts show the average for ISP students compared to the world-wide average scores in the same grade.  Because the worldwide average results do vary each year differences of less than 20 are unlikely to be statistically significant.  

Message from International Schools Assessment - ISA (June 2023):

ISA Reading Grade 3 and 4 results - February administration

We are writing to advise schools that ISA reports for the Reading Grade 3 and Grade 4 tests will need to be reissued for the February 2023 test administration.

Following a rigorous investigation of the analysis, an anomaly has been discovered in the equating of the Grade 4 Reading results that has impacted Grades 3 and 4 Reading.  We are working to provide updated reports to schools as soon as possible along with some additional information on the issue. We hope to be able to provide these early in the week of 19 June.

We apologise for the inconvenience this causes schools in their review of the results and appreciate your patience while we endeavour to deliver the updated reports to you as quickly as possible.

ISA Score - Progression Over Time

In the charts below we track the average scores for each grade cohort over time.  Some grades have a slightly longer 'history' than others because we staggered the introduction of these tests.  Also note, due to ISP transient student populations, the number of the same students continuing within a particular grade cohort greatly diminishes over a five year period.
