House Summer Reading Challenge
All Primary Years Students (Kam to Year 5)
To encourage the children to keep reading over the school break we are setting them a Summer Reading Challenge, where they can gain house points for each challenge that they meet. Reading over the summer is crucial for primary school children to maintain and build upon the skills they’ve developed during the school year. When children stop reading for an extended period, they can experience the “summer slide,” a decline in reading ability and comprehension that can set them back when school resumes. Just 15–20 minutes of reading each day helps keep their minds active, improves vocabulary, and strengthens their imagination. There are some new challenges this year, please encourage your child to take part. Students will bring the challenge home from school before the end of term - Years 1-5. KAM and Transition. Year 6 will take part in the Secondary Reading Challenge ready for starting Secondary school in September!
Do not forget as parents you have access to thousands of online magazines and magazines in many different languages through our subscription to Press Reader. Contact Miss Abbott jenny.abbott@ismonaco.com if you would like more information about this.
Birthdays
Please note the procedure concerning the ordering/providing of birthday cakes if you wish to celebrate your child's birthday in school:
-Birthdays are celebrated at morning break-time on the actual day of the student's birthday. By celebration, this involves eating the cake and singing Happy Birthday.
-Everything goes through George Gavrias, our Executive Chef, whether it’s cakes/cupcakes, being made on school premises, or something being organized with an external bakery. Your homeroom teachers must be notified 7 days in advance to make sure we do not have multiple birthdays on the same day.
-Parents need to fill in a Birthday Cake form. Payment is by debit/credit card in the main reception and a printed copy of your order must be given to the main reception.
School Photos
Individual and class photos have been taken the first week of October 2025. If you child is absent on the day of individual school pictures, rest assured that make up pictures will take place in March 2026.
