Learning Project "Fluency in class 4"
Led by Mme McNab, Mme Gérardot et M. Jamet. November 2022 to June 2023
Dear Parents,
This week we will begin a new reading project called “Fluency in class 4”. This project will continue throughout the course of Year 4.
The aim of this project is to help your child improve the quality of their reading fluency, accuracy, and expression in French. This in turn will help to further develop their comprehension skills. We will require your help as the students will be asked to use a computer tool to record their own reading.
This is an ambitious project for developing your child’s language skills. It requires working together (15 reading minutes out loud each week) in order to develop fluency in French as much as possible.
In this video you will find all the details and what you and your child will need to do to make this project a success. The key points of this project are explained in English at the end of THIS VIDEO.
We look forward to starting this project with your child.
Kind Regards,
Mme McNab, Mme Gérardot et M. Jamet
Class 6 to 7 transition
The transition from Year 6 (Primary School) into Year 7 (Secondary School) is an important point in a child's education. There are lots of changes, from the physical environment to the way that learning is delivered on a daily basis.
Many thanks to those of you who were able to attend the Year 6 into 7 transition meeting. Following on from the meeting:
HERE you will find access to the slides used in the presentation.
HERE you will find the link to the language options survey. We would ask that all parents complete the survey before 17th May 2024.
HERE you will find the link to the document that outlines language entry requirements in Year 7, which includes examples of texts that students studying at a Language & Literature level should be able to access.
If you have any questions about the transition between Year 6 and Year 7, here are the people to contact:
. Helen Whelan, Head of Year 7: helen.whelan@ismonaco.com
. Robert Henry, Head of Secondary: robert.henry@ismonaco.com
. Valentina Bazzardi, MYP Coordinator: valentina.bazzardi@ismonaco.com
Also click here to access detailed information about this. What you will find in that page will help provide you with knowledge and strategies needed to ensure that the transition is as smooth as possible. That page also has links to information particularly pertinent to the Year 6 into Year 7 transition period.
