Students will research processes and terminology associated with two-dimensional media. In order to demonstrate an understanding of multiple techniques and processes, students will design and create projects within the following units: mosaics, stained glass, sign printing, linocut printing, silk screening (printing on fabric), woodcut printmaking, designing and marketing their own typography (creating their own font), and a miniature photography series. Students will utilize and merge digital technology and traditional techniques in order to create their own unique artwork in each of these categories.
2D Design Stop Motion Projects
Students were tasked with creating stop motion shorts using the app imotion. This is a free app for iPhone users and is very user friendly. Students have to create a one minute short shot at 15 FPS.
Groups start off by story boarding the idea, building the set, film with their objects, and edit the film.
We end the unit by having an "Academe Awards" where as a class students vote on Best Picture, Best Editing, and Best Set Design. We also have a guest come and vote for "Critique's Choice Award".
