What IS Happening At NPHS This Year?

Link Crew and Freshman Orientation Monday, August 28

We are excited to welcome all incoming 9th grade students to New Prague High School for the 2023-2024 school year! On the first day of school (August 28, 2023), 9th grade students will complete a full day orientation at NPHS with our Junior and Senior Link Crew leaders. Link Crew leaders will serve as mentors throughout the school year and be available to support a successful transition to New Prague High School for all 9th grade students.

Schedule and Information for 9th Grade Link Crew Orientation

While the entire first day is devoted to orienting our incoming 9th graders, some families still wish to tour the school before school begins. If you wish to visit the school and complete a self-guided tour the building will be open on Friday, August 18. If this time does not work, please contact the NPHS Main Office (952-758-1200) to schedule a time that fits your family's schedule.

E-Hall Pass System

To create a safer, more organized learning environment, we will be continuing use of e-hallpass to better track student attendance while in the building during the day.  Schools that have adopted this system have found an increase in instructional time and a decrease in negative events in hallways, locker rooms, and restrooms.

These dates will be on a regular bell schedule with classes beginning at 7:40 AM.

Math Intervention Center

Each period of the day, a math teacher is available in Room 215.  In some cases, math teachers will send students to work with these teachers for more focused instruction.  Students may also sign out of a study hall and go to the intervention center to work 1:1 with a math teacher.

Structured Study Intervention

Some students need more targeted support.  Students who need additional support may be assigned to a structured study hall. They will meet one hour each day with a teacher to work on developing essential learning habits.  Skills such as goal setting, time management, self-advocacy will be supported in our structured study hall classes.

Testing Center

The area of the Media Center known as the Cove is where students can take tests they have missed due to absence during a study hall or during the Wednesday late starts.  Students who have a 504 plan and small group testing can also utilize the testing center.

BLENDED LEARNING DAYS

Though we believe inclement weather days may not happen for many months, we want to provide you with information on our Blended Learning Day expectations here. A Blended Learning Day will be in effect if and when we have a second day of school cancelled due to inclement weather; the first day cancelled due to inclement weather will not incur learning activities.

DIGITAL TOOLS

NPAS uses a variety of digital tools to support student learning. Schools are now required by MN State Statute 2020, section 13.32, Subd. 14 to notify students and families of our curriculum, testing, and assessment tools. This web page will be updated within 30 days of our first day of school and will include an inventory of our digital learning tools.
